3D laser scanning for industry and production

Digital factory planning based on precise inventory data

We use 3D laser scanning to capture existing factory buildings, technical building equipment, and machinery. You receive a reliable digital foundation for layout planning, conversion, expansion, and plant integration.

Planning within existing buildings

What does digital factory planning mean?

Digital factory planning transforms the actual state of a production site into a digitally usable planning basis.

Hall geometry, building services, traffic areas, and relevant machinery are spatially captured and provided as a point cloud or modeled CAD/BIM data. This allows your planning team to work with up-to-date as-built data – even if existing drawings are incomplete or outdated.

The planning task is crucial. We only capture and model in as much detail as is useful for layout, conversion or plant integration.

Typical starting situations

When current inventory data makes the difference

Whether it's expansion, a new layout or plant integration – current inventory data provides the necessary planning basis.

01

Conversion or extension

Expand production lines, replace machines, or repurpose hall areas.

02

New hall layout

To fundamentally reorganize work areas, material flow, traffic routes and machines.

03

Building services engineering and media planning

Take reliable account of pipe routing, ventilation, cable trays and other built-in features.

04

Document location

Save the current state for follow-up projects, external planners, or a digital twin.

Scope of recording

What information is included in your planning?

The scope of the service is tailored precisely to your project. Together, we will define the scan areas, accuracy, and required level of detail.

  • Hall geometry and openings
  • Production and logistics areas
  • Building services engineering and visible pipes
  • Cable trays, ventilation and media
  • Machinery and equipment
  • Steel construction, stages and platforms
  • Transport routes and crossings
  • Exterior and roof areas

Frequently asked questions

Questions about digital factory data acquisition

Can scanning be performed during operation?

In many cases, yes. Scan positions, safety zones, and time windows are coordinated with your company in advance. This often allows production interruptions to be avoided or reduced to a minimum.

What level of accuracy is useful for factory planning?

The required accuracy depends on the planning task. Different requirements apply to a hall layout than to replacing a machine or conducting a collision check. We define the required accuracy on a project-specific basis.

How detailed are the machine and building services engineering models?

As detailed as necessary, not as detailed as technically possible. This reduces processing time, data volume, and costs.

Which file formats can be provided?

Typical formats include E57, RCP/RCS, LAS, DWG, IFC, STEP, and STL. We will coordinate other formats with the planning software used.

What information do you need to provide a quote?

Helpful information includes the location, approximate area size, planning objective, desired results, timeframe, and any existing plans or photos. We will clarify any open questions in a personal meeting.

How is confidential production data handled?

Project access, data transfer, and permissions will be coordinated. Confidentiality agreements and customer-specific security requirements can be taken into account.
